Porch and Patio
Porch and patios are a great addition to any outdoor space, whether that be to house your patio furniture or to simply provide a space for additional outdoor hangout and lounging. We utilize concrete for most of our porch and patio projects because of its durability and stability. Concrete is also UV-resistant and very versatile in terms of its appearance, meaning that you have numerous choices in altering the appearance of your concrete.
Porch installation begins by mapping out the space that you want to be allocated for your porch. This is important if you have an outdoor space that is wrapping around your home and its entrances and exits. We will also need to measure how far you want your porch to extend outwards so that you can enjoy both your porch and your lawn or landscape. Once the area has been adequately mapped, we'll then begin installing the concrete into a secure frame that's set out for your porch. After drying, your porch will be ready for use.
Patio installation involves the same kind of processing and planning that porch installation typically does. With a patio, however, we will have to consider how and where the patio is exposed to potential weather hazards, as both rain and heavy winds can impact the way that concrete dries. If your patio is mostly covered or partially covered, we’ll want to install the uncovered parts during drier weather to avoid potential drying hazards that could damage your concrete. If the concrete is not dried properly, it can begin to crack prematurely and lead to early damages.
Fortunately, concrete doesn’t necessarily require too much maintenance. However, if you’re looking for the best ways to maintain your concrete porch and patio, you might find the most success in sealing your concrete for long-term use. We also recommend power washing it from time to time if you want to remove any of the unwanted dust and buildup that is present in the pores of the concrete. If you have damages in your concrete porch or patio, such as holes or cracks, we’d be happy to offer crack filling solutions.
As with any concrete surface, your porch and patio may likely require some repairs over the years. You can expect your porch or patio to go many years without needing any maintenance, but the more exposure it has to water and extensive use, the more it will eventually need some minor fixes. Most of the concrete repairs we do for porches and patios are quite easy and depend on how and where the damages lie. Cracks and holes can easily be filled with a crack filler that holds the concrete in place securely and prevents the cracks and holes from worsening. Other repairs can include crumbling steps or stairs that will need to be rebuilt piece by piece to achieve the same structure that integrates with the rest of the concrete surroundings.
